Search interest in ‘Disinfectant’ over the past 7 days in the US, showing a clear spike following Donald Trump’s press conference where he suggested injecting disinfectant to treat COVID-19. A clear sign that Donald Trump's words, had an effect on people's thinking.
We can see the scale of this peak more clearly when we look at the search interest in the term over the past 24 hours. It is baffling, but when Trump talks, people listen...
And we can also see the states that are searching the most for this term. However, this could just be people looking for news around Trump’s announcement, so let’s look at specific brand searches.
In the past 24 hours, searches for Dettol have spiked in the US. Again, Trump would be hilarious if it wasn't so clear that people actually listen to what he says.

Terrifying.
And these are the regions that are searching the term most. Worryingly, New York, currently epicenter of the pandemic have searched the most.
There has also been a rise in searches for ‘how to inject’ in the US in the past 24 hours. This does fluctuate regularly, but in the context, it's not really what you want to see.
What this tells us is that, if you're one of the most powerful people in the world that enjoys a global audience every time you speak - DO NOT SPOUT ABSOLUTE NONSENSE, YOU COMPLETE AND UTTER MORON.
