Learning how to gain skills in this scene; like producing, djing, designing (graphics etc), marketing, mixing/mastering etc are essential in this scene.
Scene is oversaturated with rappers so unless you’re classed as ELITE (remove your ego), open up a new bag for you to chase.

Don’t get me wrong, having confidence that you’re sick and different is needed but so is realism! If your vocals aren’t garnering any attraction, but you have sick ideas to cover other fields, you can use those skills to put you in a better position for your future releases

I’m now in a position where I do the following:
- Produce my own beats and make beats to sell
- Make my own artwork, promo material and videos
- Mix and master all of my own tunes
My only outlay when making music is having to purchase equipment with a one off price.

You might be the greatest A&R to come out of the UK, but no one knows it as you’re focusing on a passion that isn’t going anywhere. Notice when you have skills in other areas and apply them, you’ll see benefits immediately.
This year my goal is to have a radio show. Soon come.

To add to this thread there’s nothing wrong with putting your pride aside and being critical on your own work. Every mc I know loves to think they’re the best in the galaxy and all that stuff; but I’m also sure the ones with sense realise that their skills may be best elsewhere.
