I can see why some outsiders are so eager for BTS to leave or for their hype to drop. Having a group whos constantly breaking records or writing new history every time they do something, not just for kpop but Asian artists in general, is not who you want to be up against each yr.
BTS are not the group you want your name next to in competition when they can get 4M pre-orders & your groups are struggling to hit 500k+ w/out tactics & help. And thats just the basic numbers w/out even mentioning the charting, the impact, the constant hype, buzz & influence.
However theres not much the industry can do but wait for either BTS to go away or ARMYs to stop supporting them lol one thing a k-company can do is make it seem as if they have the next in line after BTS, sort of speak. Even if the "next" doesn't even come close in success.
The k-GP may not believe it but the public isn't checking for most of them anyway. A lot of kpop stans on the other hand, will believe anything they're fed cause they don't really care if its true one way or another, they just want to brag lol
The scary part of BTS is that not only have they not dropped yet, they haven't quite peaked either. They're still growing, still gaining new fans, still climbing & outdoing themselves both artistically & number wise. Thats very hard for any artist to do at the fast rate BTS work.
Made this thread thinking about kpop specifically but realized a lot of it can be applied to intl singers too where BTS is concerned lol and I didn't even get to mention streaming, touring etc. Views, social media & stuff I just generally categorize under "hype & impact" lol
