Charities are still advertising plenty during coronavirus. Here are a few ways they're doing it.
First, search. Ad Grants and paid Google Ads accounts are advertising all sorts of services and income generating services, like online shops. If it can be access online, it's being promoted.
The #2point6challenge is big too. I think the charities that include examples of how to do it in their ad copy will do best in this regard - it'll draw searchers in more.
Check out Google's Coronavirus Search Trends website to see how people are searching for terms related to the pandemic. Some will surprise you, like 'how long do I clap for?'. https://trends.google.com/trends/story/US_cu_4Rjdh3ABAABMHM_en
On Facebook, lots of charities are promoting their emergency appeals. This one, from @ActionAidUK, has a colourful handwashing image. This will resonate with people's daily experience right now.
This ad is from @alzheimerssoc. They've gone for high contrast text against solid colour image, and copy that doesn't mess around.
Here's an ad from @FitzRoyUk who are promoting their support workers as heroes. It's a less polished image which fits the everyday hero theme and society's redefining who society's heroes really are.
I like this one from @BritishRedCross. The food delivery image will be very familiar to people right now, they're specific about the needs and how they're addressing it. And any mention of the NHS will go down well!
So what can your charity do?

- Acknowledge that things are very different now in your copy
- Use relevant images that will really resonate with your audience and their current concerns
- People are still giving. Don't be afraid to ask.
- Amplify your charity's heroes
