I think Journal of Controversial Ideas submissions are mostly gonna be people saying “what if socially normal hierarchies are... good actually” - ideas controversial in academia but, like, normie irl. But for this very reason it doesn’t really bother me that the journal exists...

...I think academics overestimate the badness of morally bad ideas being published in humanities journals. The audience for bad ideas in humanities journals are the kinda genteel resentful racists who’d never think of calling me nigger but do think everything that entails....

....They’re not conditioning their actions on what is published in this journal, that’s not why they are as they are. Nobody else really cares what’s published in academic humanities journals. So I’m sceptical of it actually doing any harm, even though I agree it’s gonna be bad.
