Just finished rewatching #Ninjago Hands of Time again, and I gotta say,
I still really enjoy this season. The theme of pride getting in the way of victory is a really powerful one. I know this opinion is rather unpopular and want to hear what points others have against the show.
I will, of course, concede that it isn't perfect; there are many moments with really bad dialogue, exposition, and I would change some things if I were in charge. I don't like to foster a narrative that if I like something, it's 100% perfect and I refuse to criticize it at all.
I should also mention a few emotional reasons that might be why I'm biased in favor of this season. This came out at a time when I was in a bad place. I was desperate to escape the real world and disappeared into the worlds of Star Trek and Ninjago...
I even watched HoT in Finnish as that was how it first came out, desperate to find something to make me smile. If I could comprehend the basics of what was going on in a scene, I felt like I'd accomplished something...
It let me take some of my stress off, and I could relax more. As I started to feel better, the season started coming out in English, so it's totally possible that I unconsciously associate my love of the season with my improvement in mental state.
I'm also a sucker for music, and HoT has such a great score. I especially like the opening scene's score and the time twins theme. Finally, I also have a soft spot for time travel and have a tendency to try on latch onto anything I like. Having a whole season about time travel...
A topic usually tabooed, made me excited. Even when there wasn't really time travel, but instead themes of what definitions we assign to time with the four blades, I liked the focus on time. Perhaps that's more me than it is the show, but we all interpret things differently.
Also, something I didn't mention at the start of this thread: Can I get a consensus on the Fusion Suits? I really like them, they're new and interesting to look at. What does everyone else think about them?
