Important regional advocacy we've been working on at @Europarl_EN with MEP @fred_matic - maternity care is being disproportionately affected by #COVID19.

Some next steps to protect women’s rights in maternity care we have proposed:

http://humanrightsinchildbirth.org/index.php/2020/04/23/hric-informs-european-parliament-action-on-maternity-care-during-covid-19/
1/ Ensuring adequate resources for maternity care, including staffing and protective equipment
2/ Ensuring that there are policies in every country and facility guaranteeing women companionship during labour and birth, in accordance with best evidence forganisations that are monitoring the situation in real-time ( @WHO_Europe @RCObsGyn @MidwivesRCM)
3/ Implementing, reinstating and resourcing midwifery units and home birth services

4/ Ensuring that policies during the COVID pandemic are based on evidence and facts, not fears.
