Couple people have asked what are some tips to avoid/overcome acedia. Please note I give these pieces of advise but often fail at them myself. Because I'm still battling against this!

1) Make Prayer your first big choice of the day. Yes, we need to wake up, shower, etc...
But your first sustained activity of the day needs to be prayer. For me right now, that's my holy hour before Mass.

2) SCHEDULE YOUR LIFE

I'm still learning what this looks like, and have been living a pretty strict schedule for a few weeks.
But I actually need to learn to be a bit more flexible with it a bit. Or at least, I would say, schedule prayer, your tasks for the day first and then move everything else around. But a schedule is a must becuase it reminds you of the duty of the moment you're in.
3) Remove distractions when it's your task. If you're writing at your computer, close the browser, move your cell phone to a different space. Only use what you need to for the task of the moment. Our phones train us to distract ourselves from the task at hand. Use them less.
4) Make sure you do at least one chore a day. Clean the dishes, do the laundry, wash the floors. You need to do something with your hands.

5) Drink 2 litres of water a day.

6) Start exercising (this is the biggest one I struggle with)

7) Fast
Finally, when you're easily wanting to do something else, to avoid the task of the moment, simply pray "Jesus, give me the grace to find you in this task and moment" and keep on praying it as long as you need to.
This is not exhaustive because, ultimately, acedia is a spiritual issue that can only be overcome through prayer, and by that I mean, being patient and receptive towards the God who will purify you with His love. These things are His work, ultimately.
Oh yes, and check out our episode of @clericalpod where we talk about this in more depth.
