If you follow me, you'll know that I've dedicated my past 7yrs of #publichealth studies to the topics of #globalhealth, law, & #infectiousdisease. I'm so excited that my first publication in a law journal is on a topic I care so much about.

I've been passionate about this topic since 2013, even before the #Ebola outbreak in #WestAfrica. But the current #COVID19 #pandemic has shown that now, more than ever, we have so much more work to do in addressing challenges in global health security laws & policies.

This article took me over a year and a half of research, writing, and editing, and I'm dedicated to continuing to contribute to this field as I complete my JD/MPH and in my future as a #publichealth professional. This is just the beginning! 🙌

Originally, I thought my article would be released at the end of the #Ebola outbreak in the #DRC. But, unfortunately after 52 consecutive days w/out a positive diagnosis, new cases have been detected & continue to increase. This is still important! https://twitter.com/WHO/status/1248714113737506817

Receiving the physical copies of my article in the mail this week reminded me to celebrate my success, no matter how small, even amidst #physicaldistancing. There are also so many people to thank! ➡️

Huge thanks to my faculty advisor @NiAolainF and the editors/staff of @MJILOnline for working with me to shape, select, & edit this note. My foundational legal education has developed from many amazing @UofMNLawSchool #internationallaw courses, by many wonderful professors.

Thanks also to the amazing #globalhealth & #infectiousdisease experts @LawrenceGostin of the @oneillinstitute and @mtosterholm of @CIDRAP & @PublicHealthUMN for providing so many helpful resources/advice, and being great role models for my future in this field.

I'll never be able to list all the influential #publichealth mentors and family/friends who played a role in supporting me during my JD/MPH studies, but a special shoutout goes to @JakeGrayPoliSci for always boosting my confidence & celebrating my successes. Thank you all!
