Ben Franklin wanted to be a writer

His brother was a printer & created a newspaper

Young Ben asked to be a writer for his paper

His brother balked at the idea

To get back at his brother he began writing letters to the newspaper as a woman named Silence Dogood

The letters were so good that his brother James printed them in the paper

Even put a note for her to write more

At the time he was an apprentice & had proved to be a great editor

Finally, Ben couldn& #39;t help himself & told his brother

Instead of praise he got abuse

His brother was furious that he was duped by a young Ben

Franklin would eventually leave Boston for Philadelphia

Leaving his abusive brother & family behind

This would be the start of his journey which would lead him to be one of the greatest Americans of all time

Ben saw an opportuniity in Phila

There were limited newspapers & they weren& #39;t written well

Ben was an instant success

The governor even befriended him say he would front the cost for Ben to start a paper

Off to London

Except, the man lied

There was no money

Stuck in London Franklin completely reevaluated the way he saw people

He knew exactly how to judge himself, his writing, & actions, but when it came to understanding people he was naive

Franklin took the emotion out of interactions

Looking outward instead of in

Eventually he returned home

He was offered a fantastic job w/ the same man he worked for before, but something was off

Ben figured the old man was up to something

He figured he& #39;d been tasked to teach the young workers how to do his job & the old man would fire him

Instead of approaching the situation w/ malice of naivete he used his job to make connections & even grooming a 1st assistant

Right when he felt the old man was going to fire him, he bolted & established his own successful print company

Soon he took to politics

This would begin his ascention as 1 of the most important political figures in US history

The skills he acquired through his youthful failures allowed him to mold himself into any situation, always a step ahead

In his final act, he secured the French as an ally

The moral?

We all fail

We all misjudge

We all find our place in a dead end

It is the choice to learn & grow that separates the mediocre from the great

In the words of Franklin https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="⤵️" title="Arrow pointing rightwards then curving downwards" aria-label="Emoji: Arrow pointing rightwards then curving downwards">

Do not fear mistakes.

You will know failure.
