I thought I'd type up some live reactions to picks tonight from a #FFIDP perspective. One tweet - max 280 characters - per pick. The draft has offered no surprises yet outside of uncertainty over which OT the Giants preferred. A thread...
1.03) Lions take Jeff Okudah, CB, Ohio State

Detroit's moves to date suggested this pick. Salve at NT, overhang safety, and SLB. They badly needed a #1 CB to battle with NFC North WRs. I don't see him as a great IDP. Maybe in big-play leagues. More here: https://dynastyfootballfactory.com/nfl-mock-draft-part-1/
1.07) Panthers take Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn

Carolina fills a gaping hole in its defense. They were awful against the run last year after Dontari Poe got hurt. They hope Kawann Short can come back after 2 lost years. My thoughts on him as an IDP don't change from my take above.
1.08) Cardinals take Isaiah Simmons, LB/S, Clemson

This is the first surprise of the night for me. What does Vance Joseph plan to do with Simmons? His skills overlap those of De'Vondre Campbell and Budda Baker. I got some work to do to figure this out. Anyway... #ALLIN!
1.09) Jaguars take CJ Henderson, CB, Jaguars

Jacksonville had a huge hole at CB after dealing away both Ramsey and Bouye. Was this too early? Maybe, but CBs like Henderson don't grow on trees. I'll pass on him as an IDP unless the Jags' wheels fall off, boosting snap counts.
1.14) 49ers take Javon Kinlaw, DT, the original USC

The question in my mind is whether the 9ers want Kinlaw to step right into Buckner's 3T role. If so, he's an immediate DT1. But does he slide into NT while Armstead takes 3T in nickel? That gets Dee Ford more snaps at wide 9.
1.16) Falcons take AJ Terrell, CB, Clemson

Just like in the mock draft for which @DFF_Calvin collaborated, Atlanta reaches for a CB they desperately need. I like him as a #FFIDP option. The Falcons' D is on the field a lot, and QBs will bait the overly aggressive rookie.
1.19) Raiders take Damon Arnette, CB, Ohio State

CB value vaulting like QBs in a superflex fantasy draft! I was taking Arnette in the early 3rd in mocks! OK, so that means nil, but wow. For IDP, he can play in the slot, so that's mildly interesting. A late-round FFB option
1.20) Jaguars take K'Lavon Chaisson, OLB?, LSU

JAX takes another EDGE defender fully capable of playing OLB. Who sets the edge on the strong side? We'll see 3-4 sets again this year and rightfully so. I'll guess Chaisson gets a DE tag for now. 3rd rounder (I tweeted
👇 4/2/20.)
1.23) Chargers take Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma

The Bolts seek the answer at weakside LB. Murray is a classic run-and-chase 'backer who SHOULD start and play nearly full time right away. Yes, LAC rotates a lot, but you don't use 1.23 on a guy for 45 snaps a game. Rd2 dyno pick.
1.27) Seahawks take Jordyn Brooks, LB, Texas Tech

The 'Hawks throw another Round-1 curveball. They play more base sets than anyone; Mychal Kendricks is gone, but that looks like Cody Barton's role. Is KJ Wright in trouble? If so, Brooks and Barton are both LB3/4 types in 2020.
1.28) Ravens take Patrick Queen, LB, LSU

Have you ever been in FFB draft, really wanted a player, seen a player of the same position immediately ahead of you, and nearly had a heart attack? That's Baltimore at 1.28. Patrick Queen, rookie #1 LB. Redraft LB2. At least. 🤩😍🤩
1.30) Dolphins take Noah Igbinoghene, CB, Auburn

The Dolphins grab a player that fits their desire for press-man coverage with inside/outside flexibility. Also a stout tackler, Igbinoghene shapes up as an #FFIDP option for a defense that could struggle to get off the field.
1.31) Vikings take Jeff Gladney, CB, TCU

Like the pick before him, Gladney is also a CB with inside/outside flexibility. He's also worth a look in #FFIDP. Now, don't choose a favorite among these Rd-1 CBs, just take the last one. My case for Gladney 👇 https://dynastyfootballfactory.com/nfl-mock-draft-part-3/
OK, let's jump back into it. The picks are coming off the board faster tonight, so I'll beg your pardon in advance if I miss a CB or run out of steam! The most promising IDP CB so far is AJ Terrell. I explain why here: https://dynastyfootballfactory.com/nfl-mock-draft-part-2/
2.04) Giants take Xavier McKinney, S, Alabama

Our first IDP off the board tonight fits a huge need in New York. Peppers and Love will play closer to the line of scrimmage leaving more of the deep work to McKinney. That likely makes the best safety available a fantasy non-factor.
2.05) Patriots take Kyle Dugger, S, Lenoir Rhyne

🤔 First UFA Adrian Phillips, now his rookie doppelganger? The Patriots let LBs walk and did little to replace them. Dugger's an intriguing pick who MIGHT see enough box and edge work to matter for fantasy.
2.08) Texans take Ross Blacklock, DT, TCU

The Texans get the first quality interior penetrator since Watt stopped playing iDL snaps. This is an exciting landing spot in DT-required leagues IF he gets that tag. As BOB says, they don't really play 3-4. https://dynastyfootballfactory.com/schemes-are-ch-ch-changing-part-2/
2.12) Browns take Grant Delpit, S, LSU

Cleveland let all three primary safeties from 2019 go. They signed Karl Joseph presumably to compete at strong safety. Delpit will play free. He's known for poor tackling, and welp, we get points for tackles in #FFIDP. Hard pass.
2.13) Bucs take Antoine Winfield, S, Minnesota

It's a full-blown run on safeties! The NFL values those that can play deep while we IDP gamers prefer the Steve Atwater in-the-box types. Winfield will be a deep player and a depth piece in most #FFIDP leagues.
2.15) Falcons take Marlon Davidson, DE, Auburn

A second reach by the Falcons to fill a hole, Davidson fits into the big-end role in Atlanta's defensive front. He's more edge-setter than pass rusher and can be left aside in all but the deepest of #FFIDP leagues.
2.16) Seahawks take Darrell Taylor, DE, Tennessee

The Seahawks use a premium pick on the weakside edge they badly need. Taylor should compete for the starting job right away but will surely see snaps as a situational pass rusher. Look for him in the 4th round of rookie drafts.
2.22) Bills take AJ Epenesa, DE, Iowa

So, I tweeted a question the other day, "Who sets the edge in Buffalo?" Here's the answer at pick 2.22. The Bills have a seriously deep DL rotation. I want no part of it for #FFIDP, except for the upside of Ed Oliver in DT-require leagues.
2.24) Dolphins take Raekwon Davis, DT, Alabama

The Dolphins needed a player who can 2-gap and control the line of scrimmage. Wilkins and Godchaux are better suited as 1-gappers. Davis will play NT and 5T, displacing John Jenkins. Little #FFIDP value here.
2.28) Pats take Josh Uche, LB, Michigan

This from http://NFL.com
Weaknesses:
> In a holding pattern between two positions as a pro prospect

The Patriots see this as a strength! Uche and former college teammate Chase Winovich must step up with Collins and Van Noy gone.
Three CBs taken in the past dozen picks:
2.18) Bears take Jaylon Johnson, Utah
2.19) Cowboys take Trevon Diggs, Alabama
2.29) Titans take Kristian Fulton, LSU

Of these, gimme Fulton for #FFIDP. Former Titans' CB Logan Ryan led all CBs in fantasy scoring by a mile in 2019.
2.31) Chiefs take Willie Gay Jr., LB, Miss. St.

Aha! This is why I'm doing this! Gay should start right away in a weak LB unit. He likely won't be full-time but should get enough work to be an LB3/4 from the jump. In LB-hungry leagues, you'll need a mid/late 3rd to get him.
3.01) Bengals take Logan Wilson, LB, Wyoming

3 FUN IDP prospects in a row! Whew! Another guy that should step right into a plentiful workload, gimme Wilson in the 3rd as well (before Gay). The Bengals D has had a LOT of tackles to make the last couple years.
3.03) Lions take Julian Okwara, DE, Notre Dame

Um... will Okwara push his brother Romeo off the roster in 2021? Julian is a bit of a projection at weak-side end where Trey Flowers now plays. Flowers could play SDE if Julian emerges as an impact pass rusher. Late round IDP pick
3.04) Jets take Ashtyn Davis, S, Cal

Y'all have heard of Jamal Adams, right? #1 overall IDP safety? Unless he gets traded, we can safely ignore Davis in #FFIDP. If that actually happened tho, Davis could be interesting... Watch list candidate
OK, y'all, it's 10PM. I'm outta gas. New Dolphins safety Brandon Jones is IDP-irrelevant, and DT Justin Madubuike just got buried in Baltimore's 3-4 defense. I'll revisit this thread for a couple highlights. Thanks for following along! 👊
