Ramadan Mubarak ya shabab.

I’ve had my fair share of Ramadan’s in ‘isolation’ of sorts, working on rigs in the middle of the desert and ocean, begging the night chef to set aside a plate so I could have suhoor. I felt the sting of missing Taraweeh, the drift from communal...
There’s no denying that this month in isolation is different. I do not in any way claim to be an expert in how to do it well.

But what I would say, is be *kind* to yourself in this time.

I would pick one thing to focus on. Something simple, I could stick to. Fair on time, or
A specific duaa or surah every night, or something. Some of y’all might be further along on the journey, but I had been living away from family and community for the best part of a decade. Creating space for practice alone is not always easy.

But there is something about Ramadan
It always calls you back. With mercy. And sweets. And a sense of communal belonging, no matter where you are.

I feel blessed, so blessed Alhamdulilah, to have the gift of another Ramadan. We never know whether this will be our last. I’m nervous, I always am w long days...
But I am also tentatively eager. Hopeful. Curious.

Khair, inshallah. May Allah bless us all this month, and give us strength where we are weak 🙏🏽
Yikes I should have proofread this thread. FAJR on time. Fajr, autocorrect, not fair!!!
