On Feb 23, 2020, Ahmaud Arbery was murdered in the streets of Brunswick, GA by a man and son duo who HUNTED him down. Literally hunted him down. Because they saw him running down their street. The street that this man has run several times for a workout.
They saw a black man running through their neighborhood and automatically suspected he was “the one who had been breaking into cars”. Why you ask? Because he was a black man. So they went inside, got their guns (one of them a shot gun) and started chasing him down the street.
They grabbed guns because they automatically assumed this man would be armed, while on a mid day run. They kept yelling at him to stop running and when he started running faster, they got in their truck and chased him with their guns. Cornering him.
He then turned around and ran the other way to try to avoid them. They cornered him again. He was then shot. Twice. Not once but twice. With a shotgun. He fell face first onto the ground.
Instead of their first instinct being to call the police they “then rolled the man over to see if he was armed”. As this poor man laid there. Bleeding out on the ground in the middle of the road.
Why is this important? Because it was literally a hate crime. They hunted this man to his death for being a black man on his daily run. Why won’t this man be charged for his death?
Because he was an investigator for the DA’s office for 30 years and the 7 years prior, he was a police officer. There have been no moves made on his case. The justice system, especially in GA, is a joke. This man and his family deserve proper closure.
And for that reason #IRunWithMaud
Please get his story out there. It is not in the public eye at all because it was a black man shot by a white, former police officer/DA investigator.

His family deserves justice for this death that had no reason happening. The more we share his story, the more eyes it will hopefully open. Please share around and help get justice for his family. No one deserves to go the way he did.
I’m going to add this too. When they called his mom to let her know he passed, they told her it was because he was involved in a robbery. The absolute disrespect.
Also another add. In case anyone didn’t see this RT, this is the person to contact about getting on this case. I’ve already emailed him, the governor or GA, BLM, and A LOT of news outlets.
The best thing we can do right now is keep sharing and getting his story out. Contacting news stations and the county over and over until they listen. At some point they will have to listen.
