Beyond the familial reasons I wasn't allowed to join the military, not that I'd ever considered doing so before @realDonaldTrump became @POTUS:

I wouldn't make it through boot camp... with a straight face.

Now please don't misunderstand me.
I mean no disrespect to the Drill Instructors of the @USArmy, @USMC, @USNavy, @usairforce, @uscoastguard, nor @45thSpaceWing.
I understand the motives and psychology behind it.
But that's why I'd grin.
Same with any authority throughout my life.

Where does this come from?
Probably a self defense mechanism.

I'm not big and I'm not looking for altercation.
Diffuse anger with a smile.
Diffuse power by comprehension.

Knowledge is Power.
I grin when I know.

Do I always show my cards?
Absolutely not!
But when I'm safe? Yup.

Can this be trained out of me?
Probably, but no one's really been successful so far.

I still laugh at calamity.
Make light when I'm supposed to be heavy.
Will happily throw a joke before a punch.
I'm not saying I "can't be serious".
But I can blend and mask seriousness.
