at the risk of getting my head bitten off: if you're writing someone whose life experience is markedly different from yours (in matters of gender/race/economics/religion/etc)... do we think it's ok (ethically) to interview people whose experiences are closer to your character?
does that just invite appropriation? for matters of fictional representation, I'm curious...
