Can we talk about how hard it is to work while trying to watch your kids?

Can we talk about how much harder that is when your children are special needs?

Myself & 2 friends are struggling w/ this today and it just illustrates how important inclusive, good quality
Education for children with disabilities is. I know we’re all dealing with a deadly virus, & that everyone on Twitter and in my personal life is sick of my gripes about @AdrianaLaGrange pillaging our special needs PUF programming, but this is important. My son is brilliant-
He can name over 100 dinosaurs & tell you what period they’re from and what they eat, but he struggles with emotional regularion and he needs peer modeling. He misses his teachers, his routine etc and it’s starting to have negative impacts on his day to day now that he isn’t
In the classroom. Obviously this can’t be helped, but I don’t know how to tell him that his EA, teacher, SLP & OT have lost their jobs & won’t be there for him after this year. I don’t know how to be a good employee, wife, mom, & everything else I need to be right now
And because of the virus, I can’t access respite or daycare- and I’m one of the lucky ones. I’m not a single parent household. We’re financially secure. But this is freaking hard. This family has been hit and hit again by this government & it’s getting harder to get back up.
They are taking advantage of the virus as a diversion tactic to ram through sneaky policies and back channel deals, and it’s not okay. Everyone needs to be ready to volunteer, fundraise and door knock next election. We need to leave our hearts out there, because families
Like mine can’t survive another 4 years like this under @jkenney’s government. Also check in on your friends and loved ones, they might really need you.
