The Holy Grail for activists is to appear as experts in public. The progressive liberal-left has largely succeeded in achieving that. But there is a huge cost in trust in our institutions like the BBC - and in the very idea of impartiality and expertise.
I think there is a better news out there to be pursued. It would take the interpretations of dominant actors (not just the government) as a large part of the subject matter. But that would kill this lovely safe world of unquestioned authority, of 'us' presiding over the public.
