Christian leaders: A quick thread about not becoming a sell out. (a word for my own heart too)
Mark 5 - Jesus destroys a profitable business and disrupts their regional economy in order to liberate a man oppressed by demons.
Acts 16 - Paul & Silas are arrested for liberating a demon-possessed girl enslaved by business owners with lobbying power.
Acts 19 - Paul and his crew are arrested for being a threat to a local business network.
Acts 19 - Paul and his crew are arrested for being a threat to a local business network.
Here's the point: Sometimes, the kingdom of God disrupts profitable industry.
If you don't understand that, you'll eventually compromise faithfulness to the gospel, you'll turn a blind eye toward idolatry and oppression, you'll shun the voices that threaten your privileges and perks, and you'll become a sell out.
Christian leader, don't become a sell out. Stay with Jesus. Speak the truth. Love the lost and left out. Don't be selfish or afraid. Jesus is your provider and protector!
He could have sold out...
in the wilderness with Satan
when people wanted to prematurely coronate Him
in the Garden of Gethsemane
before Annas, Caiaphas, the Sanhedrin, Pilate, Herod, then Pilate again
and even on the Cross
But, for the joy set before Him...

But, for the joy set before Him...
(And let me add all the necessary caveats to save me from my notifications: business and profit are good gifts from God and good, necessary gifts to society. But never at the expense of God’s command to love your neighbor.)
