Alright, time to go on the record here. I’m an ICU nurse, and I frequently have coronavirus patients who are critical either on or off of ventilators. COVID-19 is communicable in the extreme, and hits our oldest and sickest population the hardest. But you all knew that, right?
What I want to add is that no, I don’t at all support the powers that the government, mostly STATE governments, have given themselves. Government should have no power to shut down entire industries, and it most *certainly* should not have the right to restrict freedom of movement
You tenth amendment folks, you know, the ones who believe that States should be able to ban or legalize anything it wants to (as long as you agree) THIS is what that looks like. Government exists to tyrannize, period.
You folks who now want to attack doctors and nurses because you don’t like their “attitude” or their “ego”? Fuck you. Fuck you all to hell. Healthcare workers have ONE singular focus, and that’s to keep your dumb asses alive, no matter why you’re sick.
You had better hope to God your nurse is cocky as all hell and not some timid wallflower when you can’t breathe or you’re coding. You’d better *pray* your doc is calm and collected because he or she knows they’ve got the skills to save your life.
“This virus has been way overblown”. Well, maybe. The projections that have been made may have been wrong, our mitigation strategy worked, or people have an as of yet unknown resistance to the virus, or a combination. All I know is that it is *far* deadlier than
Any cold or flu when people who have it become critical. We’re talking weeks on ventilators. And supportive therapy. Anyone minimizing the effects of this virus is a disingenuous idiot who should be ignored and dismissed.
So yeah, open it all up, for fuck’s sake. Stay the hell away from your grandparents if you decide to go to a rally or a church service. Be the decent human beings you demand everyone else be.
