Rhinoviruses are a common cause of *the common cold*. A study looked at adults hospitalized w/ these viruses or the flu, & found that there was a 30-day mortality rate of 9.6%(!) for the common cold & 7.1%(!) for the flu. A study estimated the hospitalization rate for rhinoviruses to be about 3/1000 people per year (linked) & the flu to be about 1.5/1000 people per year (CDC data comparing the whole US) 2/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4744574/
