This pandemic has reinforced patriarchy:
â–Șdecision makers on pandemic response mostly men in most countries
â–Șmedia reporting/trusting male experts much more than female
â–Șdomestic abuse skyrocketing during lockdown
â–Ș women having to work from home & do childcare at same time
Several people commenting on this are asking for ‘evidence’ on points 2 & 4. Well having the resources to generate evidence on these is part of the problem. So many things are prioritised over it during this pandemic. However pls feel free to share your anecdotes in the meantime.
Also when I point out patriarchy I’m glaringly obviously not saying ‘all men are bad’!!
I really feel I shouldn’t even be having to say this - kinda like those having to point out that drinking bleach is not a good idea.. but that’s the world we live in today, hey? đŸ€Ż
OK just to super clarify: there’s clear & strong ‘evidence’ for all of these before the pandemic. The demands as I understood were abt ‘evidence’ from the time of pandemic. That evidence (from research) will inevitably come but doubt it will be commissioned or properly resourced.
