Watched Ep 1 of Tower of God.
It feels a lot like classical fantasy lit, in a way. An in-medias-res start with an almost nonsensical inciting incident that is constructed carefully to beckon you to ask questions upon questions.

I dont need everything explained immediately, so I like it.
So far, everything about this world is a mystery, but one that clearly has answers. Its tantalizing and I really wanna see where it goes.

I also like how we witness Bam (or Yooru?) almost from a third person perspective, with initially little insight on who he is, instead-
- letting the other characters and the world itself frame him thru their interaction and reaction with him. I do need more on his relationship with Rachel soon, tho.
Also, I love the Tower already.

Metaphysical bullshit is my jam and this is right up my alley.

Additionally, I really enjoy how the worldbuilding (or rather, lack thereof) is handled.

We dont need a map or aglobal overview. This first ep is about a boy, a sword and a fish,-
- and that is all that we need to see and know for now.

Maybe this is the literature student brainrot setting in, but it really feels like a traditional literative journey, with simple beginnings that flesh the world and the setting out as it moves forward (as opposed to -
- the now more popular method of frontloaded establishment)

I suppose my biggest praise is that Tower of God makes me wanna think about it. About its characters, world, where it might go and what it might say.

I am hooked.
Also, the OP is good. The cuts to black do kill the pace of the visuals a bit but, when I look at it under my aformentioned lense of tantalization, it just adds to that. We are only allowed glimpses into this journey - we must climb the tower ourselves to see the truth
also song goated
only gripe is that this first episode hinges on my optimism regarding how questions will be answered and how Bam will be filled out as a character lol

if I were more cynical, I might like it less
