Who said frank ocean pyramid was about the fall of status and grace that black people had in Africa until the white man took us and made us bottom of the pyramid, workers and removed our royal status becoming sex icons and nothing more. They were onto something.
Because in part 1 cleopatra was taken by someone who had a full head of hair. They were rich. The music was fancy. They had status. The beat was fast paced. Second part Cleopatra works at the strip club called the pyramid instead of living in the African pyramids. And she’s
good for sex solely. And the black guy only cares about his jewels and sees that as an image of wealth. He’s now become a pimp. He feels worthless “the way you say my name makes me feel like I’m that nigga but I’m still unemployed”
He still sees beauty in her but more in a sexual way. Because her love isn’t free anymore. He reminisces on the way they would have a wholesome love.
Even the switch from more classy beat to a strip beat. đŸ„ș😔
He went from describing her in part 1 - “her skin like bronze and her hair like cashmere” to “your wet and warm just like your bath water” in part 2, it’s all so sexual from being so royal before.
Even the alert when she was missing “they have taken cleopatra! Come back for my glory, bring her back to me. The crown of our family, thrown of our queen is empty.” Like the two of them mattered! They were someone. They were necessary and their absence meant something.
But in part 2 he’s bragging that his car has wood grain but also says it doesn’t have a gas tank 💀 and “got your girl working for me” he begins to diminish women’s worth. He still bathes her body like a queen though, but they’ve lost their status 😞😞😞
Omg I said thrown instead of throne I feel sick
