𝙈𝙤𝙤𝙣 𝙈𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙘

Lunar magic is the act of harnessing the power of the moon by tailoring your manifestations (through spells and rituals) to align with its energies during the various moon phases. [𝚃𝙷𝚁𝙴𝙰𝙳]

𝙉𝙚𝙬 𝙢𝙤𝙤𝙣: The moon in this phase is one where darkness reigns. Darkness is of the divine feminine because it represents the divine potential from which all things are birthed (light included).

Element to work with: FIRE (to quickly and effectively release your intentions into the universe)

Rituals: 𝙎𝙚𝙩 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙜𝙤𝙖𝙡𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛. What progress would you like to see in your personal journey? Set these new intentions during the new moon.

You can do a new moon ritual incorporating fire (burning written intentions to release) or you can simply sit still with yourself and write these goals down and set it by a window for the moon to shine on it. Make them CONCRETE, things you can note and track as you progress.

𝙒𝙖𝙭𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙈𝙤𝙤𝙣: The moon in this phase represents growth, in the old times our ancestors would plant their crops around this time so that as the moon waxed in the sky, so would their crops grow as well.

This phase of the moon is all about drawing and attracting things to yourself. (agricultural lunar calendars have been found in Egypt, Ethiopia and Kenya, not to mention other parts of the world)

This is the time to actively work on all those goals you set on the new moon. The moon honors the work you put in during this time, and expands it further as the lunar cycle progresses.

You’ll actually notice an energy behind your progress, that energy is amplified and you’ll start to notice faster results the more you practice this. Be sure to THANK the moon in each cycle for aiding you. Remember Gratitude is EVERYTHING.

𝙁𝙪𝙡𝙡 𝙢𝙤𝙤𝙣: This is a time of culmination and illumination, it is the most popular moon phase and for good reason too. The full moon is a time when all energies are heightened as everything is brought to the surface.

This is felt on a very human mundane level as statically we see an increased activity in crime on the days of the full moon, as well as increased agitation and reactions from mental patients within psych wards.

This just shows you how deeply connected the moon is to our collective psyche as a species on this planet. Brujas and all kinds of magical practitioners have always known this as well, the full moon lends a powerful boost to whatever spell work you do at this time.

Element to work with: WATER (water holds spiritual energy, you can use it to capture the energy from the moon at this time. This can later be used in other magical workings and manifestation, especially in scrying)

You can harness the energies of any major moon phase (full moon & new moon) three days before and three days after the specific day of that phase.

This means that the level of energy for that phase can be accessed during all those days.

During this time your main focus should be on rites of empowerment and illumination. There’s a surplus of energy in the air, USE it. If you have any sigils or objects of power that you’ve dedicated to your practice CHARGE THEM and empower them on this night.

Set them out for the light of the moon to touch them, if the moon isn’t visible that night still leave it outside, it’ll absorb the energies regardless. As you charge your object with the full moon’s energy, TALK TO THE MOON. Tell her what you desire.

We talked about empowerment, now let’s talk about ILLUMINATION. This phase of the moon is when its light is at its fullest, meaning this is a time for great illumination and discovering truths. ALL works of divination are strengthened during this time.

This phase of the moon is especially beneficial for pregnant women and all those seeking to conceive. The moon has always been linked to women’s mysteries and fertility across all cultures; and that energy is at its peak during this time.

Pregnant women during this time can feel and connect with the divine feminine that is in all things, know that many women before you birthed their children under this moon. And many women prayed to the moon for the safety and health of the lives growing inside of them.

The full moon is also a good time for calling spirits to you (note of advice: don’t call anything you’re not familiar with or you can’t get rid of, if need be) This is a very good time to commune and elevate your ancestors. Give them light and show them love.

Get into the habit of talking to the moon at each phase. Ask her to help you with whatever you’re working on, she listens. Every planetary body has a consciousness and multiple spirits operating within it. That’s why we have planetary squares.

𝙒𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙤𝙤𝙣: The waning moon is a period where energy is being drawn from particular areas in our lives. Think: what do I want to do away with? What things do I want to take away that no longer serve me?

In regards to manifestation, tailor your magic during the waning moon to include taking away ANYTHING (habits, personal beliefs, people) that inhibits you from reaching your goals. Work on letting go of any negative habits during this period: self doubt, laziness.

Work with this lunar cycle and you’ll notice as the moon’s lights wanes in the sky so will the influence of what you’re trying to draw away from you. Find what works for you and put in work to TRULY let go of what doesn’t serve you at this time.

Shadow Work: The moon in this phase is ruled by the divine feminine principle that is the Crone, Wise Woman. The Crone symbolizes knowledge and wisdom that comes with age and She can help us connect with that aspect of our deeper knowledge that is often hidden to us: our shadow.

The more you work with the moon the more you’ll naturally know what phase she is in without even needing to look up to the sky. You’ll FEEL the lunar energies working through you. Don’t forget to keep a lunar calendar to track your progress!
