People being like “Frodo isn’t the real hero cause without the fellowship/Sam/Gollum he never would have accomplished it”.
Here are some reasons that’s a silly thing to say:
1. A hero who didn’t need any help would be a boring hero
2. There can be multiple heroes in a story
3. Frodo volunteered when no one else would to do something that people were claiming was a death mission, delight being weak and small.
4. Frodo fails in the end because everyone would have failed in the end. That’s the point. What make you a hero is not being someone who
doesn’t fail, but someone who keeps going til they absolutely can’t go anymore. Ultimately it was too big for anyone person, and that’s why LotR isn’t about one person making a big difference, but lots of people making small differences that ultimately bring about Sauron’s defeat
5. Frodo never looked for any glory fro himself, he never cared to be a hero, he just wanted to do the task he was given. He needed Sam, but Sam needed Frodo as well. Sam was Frodo’s strength, Frodo was Sam’s motivation. One can’t be “”the hero” without the other.
