Before we begin this thread let’s start with a duaa. May Allah SWT give us all health and the ability to fast this ramadan with a clean heart. Ameen.
What is Ramadan?

Ramadan is a month of the Islamic calendar. A month long fast, observed by the world's fastest growing religion, by 1.6 billion Muslims. Muslims Fast during the holy month of Ramadan, which is one of the five pillars of Islam.
While fasting from dawn until sunset, Muslims refrain from consuming food, drinking liquids, smoking, and engaging in sexual relations. Muslims have a pre-dawn meal before the fast which is called the suhur, while the meal at sunset that breaks the fast is the iftar.
This is the month of giving to charity and less fortunate.and increased offering of salat (prayers), and recitation of the Quran and an increase of doing good deeds and charity.
The Blessed Month of Ramadan:

The month of Ramadan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people
“O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous.” [2:183]
Fasting on the month of Ramadan is obligatory for Muslims. Why do Muslims fast in Ramadan?

Fasting is the ritual observed by Muslims in this Holy month of Ramadan. Fasting is obligatory for all medically fit Muslims. Allah says in the Quran:
“Oh you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you many learn piety and righteousness” [Quran,2:183]
Revelation of the Quran:

Apart from an obligation to fast in Ramadan, in this month Allah revealed Quran as well. The Quran states:
“Ramadan is the (month) in which the Quran was sent down, as a guide to mankind and a clear guidance and judgment (so that mankind will distinguish from right and wrong)” [Quran,2:185]
Attaining Taqwa:

Taqwa is an act of righteousness, fear of Allah and total submission towards Him. Quran says
“Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may attain taqwaa.” (Quran, 2:183)
The level of Taqwa in Ramadan is to give charity (zakat) as much as we can. This act will let us feel the deprived and starved state of the poor and needy ones. Allah has given strong emphasis on the act of Zakat in order to attain Taqwa as stated in Quran.
Ramadan is the month of forgiveness:

This month is regarded as Allah’s month, hence all the blessings are multiplied including the blessings of Forgiveness. We seek forgives and refuge from hell, repent on our sins with sanguinity that Allah will blessed us.
as narrated by Bukhari
“When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained.”
Fasting is the gate towards Paradise:

As fasting is the ritual that covers all the disciplines that refine human body and purify its soul, hence this ritual of fasting has regarded the act to enter paradise.
Abu Umaamah r.a.a. said: I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah (saw), tell me of an action by which I may enter Paradise’. He said: ‘Take to Fasting, there is nothing like it.’ [Imam Nasai’, Ibn Hibbaan, Al-Haakim, Saheeh]
Reward for breaking fast of others:

The act of charity is highly appreciated and rewarded in Islam. It allows us to help the needy. Charity importance is obvious from aforementioned Quranic verses but in Ahadiths charity has given the same equal importance.
The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: He who gives food for a fasting person to break his fast, he will receive the same reward as him, except that nothing will be reduced from the fasting persons reward.” [Ahmad, at-Tirmidhee, Ibn Maajah, Ibn Hibbaan, Saheeh].
How Ramadan teaches us to have patience:

Ramadan teaches us to have patience. You’re waiting to eat but that’s not the purpose of Ramadan. So what should you do to distract yourself from thinking about food? Read Quran, give charity, gain as many good deeds as you can.
Like helping someone out, whether it’s giving money to the homeless help someone carry their groceries just simple stuff like that and Insha’allah you will be rewarded double for it because it’s Ramadan.
Ramadan is the month of Patience and Fasting is the greatest form of patience:

The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said:
مَنْ صَامَ شَهْرَ الصَّبْرِ وَثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ صَامَ الدَّهْرَ
“Whoever fasts the month of Patience, and the three days of every month, (he is as if he) fasted for an entire year” [Related by Ahmad (2/261) and an-Nasa’i (4/218).no. 2408 from Abu Hurayrah
Muslims Perform Hajj in the month of Ramadan

Starting from the 8th of Dhu al-Hijjah, the pilgrimage can be performed between five to six days. The ninth of Dhu al-Hijjah is known as the Day of Arafah, whereas Eid al-Adha, Islam's holiest festival, is on the third day of Hajj.
Why is Hajj performed? During the Hajj the Pilgrims perform acts of worship and they renew their sense of purpose in the world. Mecca is a place that is holy to all Muslims. It is so holy that no non-Muslim is allowed to enter.
For Muslims, the Hajj is the fifth and final pillar of Islam.

“And proclaim the Hajj to the people …… to commemorate God's name during the known days.“[22:27-28]
