Greetings from unpaid furloughville, Twitter. In a bit of old news, I shaved my corona stache last week. I am clean-shaven for the first time since I was 15 years old. It sucks, tbh. I have a face that calls out for -- nay, demands -- a beard. Let the regrowing begin!
I’ve had plenty to keep me busy on my unplanned, unpaid week off. I purchased an insurance policy for my dog (pictured), did my taxes and filed an unemployment claim for the first time ever (more on that later).
It kills me to not be in the trenches with @JudithKohler, @AldoSvaldi, @bigd2626 and the rest of the @denverpost team at this critical time. My colleagues have continued churning out important, timely work with me and more than a dozen other newsroom staffers on the sideline.
I don't want to dwell on it in this thread, but the goal of this furlough program -- three unpaid weeks off for virtually everyone who works at the Denver Post between now and July 1 -- is saving jobs long term.
