So what appears to be going on here is that mid-major conferences, the so-called "Group of Five" conferences like the Mountain West for example, have presented a proposal to the NCAA that would allow for schools to reduce the number of available sports in order to remain part....
of Division I. If this proposal, which appears to be perhaps a way schools might be responding to the financial challenges posed as a result of COVID-19, a lot of so-called "non-revenue" sports - think most anything outside of basketball or football - but at some schools...
sports such as hockey, baseball or softball as well, could find themselves on the chopping block. This coalition of college coaches is expressing strong opposition to this plan and has posted that letter a link to which is in our opening Tweet of this thread.
If you are a parent of a @MSHS_wildcats or @CHSRedWolves athlete or one which has recently graduated and is playing college sports, you need to have a look at this site and educate yourself on this issue.
Additionally, we would like to CC @AaronQ13Fox, @AHoshidaSports, @ChrisEgan5, @MikeKOMOsports and @FemiAbebefe and suggest to all of you this would be a good topic to discuss on TV as this could also have an impact in the Pac-12 and both the UW and WSU if this passes.
