When I was a teen/early 20s in the 90s I volunteered for Stonewall, first on their Age of Consent campaign and then the anti-Section 28 campaign. When we were campaigning we never claimed that heterosexual men who 'self identified as women' were lesbians. https://twitter.com/stonewalluk/status/1253306257882169344
Back then trans was short for transsexual. And the transsexuals I knew were gay men who transitioned, who still hung out with gay guys, and didn’t make claims on women that trans women make now. I don’t remember transvestites and crossdressers claiming to be women as they do now.
When we were campaigning, during our arguments we never said there was ‘no debate’. In fact, we lapped up all the debate we possibly could! I remember me and others at the gay youth club I went to were put up against some horrid people on the airwaves.
We made our arguments, but we never compelled anyone to accept the reverse engineered, gaslit, meaning of words and phrases whilst making our arguments. No thought terminating mantras like Trans Women Are Women or the hokum ‘Cisgender’ ‘assigned at birth’ nonsense.
And, perhaps most bizarrely, we never sought to redefine the very meaning of homosexual sexual orientation to make it ‘inclusive’ of people of the opposite sex, as Stonewall has done as evidenced on its glossary. We are now apparently people attracted to the same ‘gender’.
Stonewall is no longer a lesbian and gay rights advocacy group. Stonewall is now a Gender Identity lobby group, which currently has a monopoly hold on public benchmarking of a concept (homosexuality) it no longer itself recognises. It’s a racket.
You can either champion and be vigilant about the rights of sexual minorities, or you can push the sexist and homophobic hokum that is postmodern gender Identity politics. You can only get away with the charade of trying to do both for so long.
The people who run Stonewall and other LGBT organisations have a professional and financial vested interested in trying to maintain Gender Identity politics. They’re stuck. Its part of their business model and they’ve gaslit themselves to the point of religious zeal.
But so many lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transsexuals, and straight allies are increasingly fed up with the insidious affect Stonewall et al are having on public discourse. There is now, mercifully, an alternative. LGB Alliance @AllianceLGB
