ABO - MiSawa - SFW

Miyuki though he was being careful about his feelings for Sawamura, but it turns out he can't be anything less than obvious about his feelings for the alpha.

Thank god Sawamura is so dense.
Though Sawamura doesn't know it, it's common knowledge on the baseball team that Sawamura is "spoken for". If Miyuki's behavior around the younger alpha didn't make that obvious enough, the irritated looks he gives others who get too close to Sawamura definitely give it away.
Everyone respects it, obviously.

Aside from it being common courtesy, no one wants to anger Miyuki.

"When are you gonna tell him how you feel?" Kuramochi asks over lunch one day, making Miyuki roll his eyes. He asks ever other week and Miyuki always tells him the same thing:
"I'll tell him when I'm ready."

"Someone's gonna snap him up before you nut up and tell him yourself," Kuramochi never minces words. "Even I can tell that he's a once in a lifetime catch." He stacks his bowls onto his tray with a frown, "If you don't lock him down soon, someone
else will."

Miyuki finds that hard to believe.

Sawamura is nothing if not devoted to him, always following him around like a puppy, begging for his attention. Sure, he's an amazing alpha and anyone would be lucky to have him, but Miyuki is confident that Sawamura only has eyes
for him.

Besides, he thinks grumpily, it's not like he hasn't TRIED to tell Sawamura how he feels. He's tried twice now and both times they were interrupted and Sawamura got distracted and Miyuki took it as a sign; it's not time yet.
When the time is right, he'll tell Sawamura
and the alpha will reciprocate his feelings and they'll live happily ever after.

Well, it probably won't be that rose colored but.
Semantics, right?

He's not worried about Sawamura being snapped up by someone else, no matter what Kuramochi says.

But maybe he should have been.
He's not expecting Kuramochi to drag him aside the minute he gets home from the All Invitational before he can even take his bags to his room, and he's definitely not expecting to hear that his "claim" on Sawamura is being challenged.

"Excuse me?" Miyuki's eyebrows fly into his
hairline.

"You heard me," Kuramochi frowns. "He told him in front of the whole canteen- everyone knows now. Okamura is going after Sawamura."

Miyuki swallows hard. He really hadn't seen this coming.

--
The tension in the canteen is so thick it's suffocating Takuma.

The canteen had fallen silent when Miyuki came in, chin held high, defiant, and Takuma choked when his piercing gaze locked on the omega next to him.

Okamura had held his gaze, not backing down an inch.
Takuma isn't sure if he should be proud of him or terrified for him.

Miyuki eventually broke the impromptu staring contest and made his way to the end of the line to serve himself a bowl of rice and Okamura relaxed his shoulders just the slightest.
What's really amazing to Takuma, though, is that for all the tension and hushed whispers around the room, Sawamura has managed to eat his dinner in a daze, not noticing any of it.

Takuma wishes he could say he envied the pitcher, but at this point, he really, really doesn't.
