10 years of @WorldBookNight - a thread of favourites📚

The very first #WorldBookNight book I received was a library user gifting me One Day by the superb @DavidNWriter after a colleague and I delivered Rhyme Time in 2011. I had already read and loved, so I passed on to a friend
2011’s #WorldBookNight gets a second mention as it is the @WorldBookNight I was first introduced to the incomparable @MargaretAtwood - another library borrower gifted me The Blind Assassin and it became my favourite ever book 📚❤️

Wow, wasn’t 2012 a top collection too - almost too hard to pick, but I’m going to go with Someone Like You as it reintroduced me to @roald_dahl ⭐️this collection is full of stories that are wicked, ingenious and surprising in equal measure #WorldBookNight
2013 was a special #WorldBookNight list as it really stepped up the variety - the @readingagency team sure know how to create a collection for all. My pick from this list has to be the incredible Noughts&Crosses by @malorieblackman 📚❤️
I had enjoyed many an @agathachristie story in my teenage years but the appearance of After The Funeral on the 2014 #WorldBookNight list prompted me to return to the stories I had so enjoyed before and helped me discover new favourites too 📚 @readingagency @WorldBookNight
My pick from the 2015 #WorldBookNight list is The Martian by @andyweirauthor - I implore you, if you’ve only seen the brilliant film, you’re missing out! Read the excellent (and better!) book 📚

A book that everyone can take something away from, Reasons to Stay Alive by the inspirational @matthaig1 is my 2016 #WorldBookNight choice. I fully believe in the power of reading and how it can benefit mental health and well-being; this book is a perfect example of that 📚❤️
2017’s #WorldBookNight list is seeing me stay on theme of mental health & well-being as my pick is the incredible, heartbreaking but equally life-affirming read The Last Act of Love by @CatRentzenbrink - a book that will stay with you & support you @readingagency @WorldBookNight
A re-read from a book I had read at school, the wonderfully eerie The Woman in Black by @susanhillwriter is my 2018 #WorldBookNight choice
I confess #WorldBookNight in 2019 somewhat passed me by as I had an 8 week old baby but there are books I have read and loved (Handmaid’s Tale for 1) but also amazing authors, including @DorothyKoomson who we had the pleasure of welcoming to #Hitchin Library in 2018 📚
And that brings us to #WorldBookNight 2020 and another super collection. I had hoped to be celebrating in the library with colleagues&library users but alas that was not to be. Instead, enjoy #ReadingHour from 7-8pm or whenever you can - you won’t regret it 📚...
Thank you @readingagency and @WorldBookNight for 10 fantastic collections and inspiring people to read. To all our library users who keep us so busy and who we dearly miss, keep reading. To anyone reading this, please share your favourite #WorldBookNight reads with us ❤️📚
