Happy #NFLDraft day! Here’s a CJ Henderson appreciation thread- and for fans of whichever team selects him, a preview of what you’re adding to your team.

First and foremost: the hustle. You’re getting a kid who just never gives up on a play. https://twitter.com/allkindsweather/status/1043653898559520768
Like I said: @HendersonChris_ does NOT give up on a play. Here’s that blazing speed of his, which allows him to flag down an NFL receiver in Debo Samuel literally 90 (ninety) yards downfield. https://twitter.com/allkindsweather/status/1095006123311140865
Next: gotta address the elephant in the room. The tackling.

Yes- he looked better on some plays than others. But it’s not like he doesn’t know how to tackle.

Note the immediate play recognition and blinding closing speed. And the technique on the tackle.
Speaking of tackling: Hendo became adept at pulling off corner blitz under Todd Grantham. Michigan never saw it coming.

And he looked like an OK tackler here to me 🤷🏻‍♂️ https://twitter.com/allkindsweather/status/1079066583841034240
Speaking of the corner blitz, here it is again. Notice how well Hendo masks it pre-snap. Then his sheer speed takes over after the snap. Just deadly.
Then there are Hendo’s coverage skills... and I mean SKILLS.

This is a bad decision by Jake Bentley, but put that aside for a second and watch Hendo’s closing speed on this ball.
Here’s where CJ Henderson is at his best: man coverage.

Tarik Black thinks he’s got Hendo beat. But watch Hendo stick that hand in there and fight all the way to the ground, and dislodge it at the absolute last second. No catch. Incomplete pass.
CJ Henderson’s best attribute is tight man coverage. Here, he shows his versatility.

Miami’s Jeff Thomas thinks he has a huge cushion to work with, but as soon as he enters Hendo’s space, he’s locked down. Again, watch Hendo fight this all the way to the ground and break it up. https://twitter.com/allkindsweather/status/1253088677326192644
Back to his bread and butter, bump and run coverage.

Hendo delivers a quick one hand jam to FSU’s Tamorrion Terry and then sticks to him like glue throughout the course of the 9 route. The throw from James Blackman never had a chance.

You can’t do it much better than that.
Last but not least, the fun stuff. The picks.

It’s difficult for the great cornerbacks to accumulate interceptions because smart quarterbacks will eventually stop throwing at them- but don’t worry, Hendo got a few of those, too.

Here’s a free one that Drew Lock just gave him. https://twitter.com/allkindsweather/status/926843927994470400
Here’s one I got to witness personally, against Tennessee three years ago: https://twitter.com/allkindsweather/status/909809190264299520
Here’s one where Hendo doesn’t even really do too much, it’s just a terrible... everything from Terry Wilson. But Hendo balls out on so many plays where he doesn’t get noticed, and when you do that enough you get thrown a bone in the form of a free statistic.
