A testimonial about @raviopatra, the researcher who was falsely detained for 'sending out provocations through Whatsapp'.

translated from the tweets of @yanuarnugroho, activist-scholar, Former Deputy Chief of Staff to the President.

#BebaskanRavio #FreeRavio
I heard from the media and Whatsapp groups about
@raviopatra's arrest. I personally know Ravio because for some time he worked quite close to me and I consider him a 'protégé' or mentee. I will speak of him only within that context in the meantime. https://twitter.com/yanuarnugroho/status/1253223048829734912
I met @raviopatra through the Open Government Partnership (OGP) when I served as Deputy II of @KSPgoid (Executive Office of the President of Republic of Indonesia). Indonesia co-founded the OGP in 2011 along with 7 other countries. (cont) https://twitter.com/yanuarnugroho/status/1253223051623202816

The OGP currently has around 80 member countries. Indonesia is a part of its steering committee (SC).
At that time, @raviopatra was an independent researcher who wrote about Indonesia's achievements related to its government openness. Please find the report here.

. @raviopatra's report evaluates the implementation of government openness in Indonesia. It's very helpful in identifying the achievements of the OGI's (Open Government Indonesia) action plans. (cont) https://twitter.com/yanuarnugroho/status/1253223062935199744

The report was used as a material to prepare the OGI action plans in the next period, for both the government as well as Indonesian civil society organizations.
In 2017-2019, if I'm not mistaken, @raviopatra worked for a OGP support unit. During 2018 OGP Global Summit in Tbilisi, Georgia, he assisted and attended to the Indonesian delegation. (cont) https://twitter.com/yanuarnugroho/status/1253223066643107841

Coincidentally, @_agunghikmat_ and I were delegates, along with friends from the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the civil society.
This @raviopatra kid is indeed a critical one; not just online (read his timeline) but also offline (those who had discussions with him know). Global exposure and experiences have opened his horizons, but just as he said when we had coffee one day, (cont) https://twitter.com/yanuarnugroho/status/1253223070115876865

'A billion percent of my heart is still for Indonesia, Sir.'
I hope @raviopatra was not arrested for being critical. He is critical because he loves this country. More than that, all of us do need to always be critical. We need to be critical citizens. https://twitter.com/yanuarnugroho/status/1253223073550970880
Now, let us respect the legal proceedings. I hope there will be openness and clarity on the proceedings carried out on @raviopatra. Stay strong, Ravio. Keep believing in the powers of openness and transparency. (cont) https://twitter.com/yanuarnugroho/status/1253223076201807873
