2/I have a rare genetic condition called #SaltWastingCongenitalAdrenalHyperplasia, or #SWCAH.
It is the most severe form of #AdrenalInsufficiency.
#JFK had a form of #AI called #AddisonsDisease. The details/genetics of these conditions are not the same but the end results are.

3/I take steroids daily, since birth, literally just to remain among the living. I will be on #Hydrocortisone until the day I die.
I also have an emergency #SoluCortef shot kit in case of #AdrenalCrisis.

4/Adrenal crisis can be caused by even the slightest physical trauma (fever, infection, broken bones, even a sprain) and also emotional/psychological trauma (stress, negative excitement, death of someone close).
5/ #AdrenalCrisis, to be honest, is HORRIBLE.
It happens when a CAHer& #39;s potassium skyrockets and their sodium tanks, as a result of the above mentioned stressors (& more).
The pain of a crisis is unexplainable to anyone who& #39;s never felt it.

6/It& #39;s a deep, all-over, aching pain that will have you begging for death.
I have almost died roughly 20x in the last 3-4 years from this condition. I was hospitalized for it each time, the last being in March, brought on by a severe sinus infection.

7/Each time I& #39;ve had hosp staff tell me they were shocked that I was walking out of there, & they had expected a fatal heart attack the entire time (when in crisis, my potassium usually goes up to over 7).

8/Morphine & Dilaudid IV barely control the pain. In March, I was on Morphine IV & Oxycodone tabs. I cried for 3 days because I was not getting any relief.
With my size, 4& #39;9 & 105lbs, I was maxed out on pain med dosage.

9/So you see, if a CAHer catches #CaptainTrips, it probably wouldn& #39;t be the virus that kills them. It would be the #AdrenalInsuffiency.
And #AdrenalCrisis, I& #39;ll say again, is a horrible thing to suffer through.
