Thread : Why Hakim Ziyech will be one of the best and most exciting players in the 20/21 prem season.

In this Ziyech thread, I will cover :

1) Positional Versatility

Hakim offers the ability to play in a number of positions, he can operate as a 10, as he has a fantastic range of short passing and the ability to score from central areas.

In this clip, you can see Ziyech’s vision, something that Chelsea lack.

Ziyech can also play RW, using his dribbling to beat players but also creative ability again to deliver in fantastic crosses to team-mates.

Can you imagine Pulisic on the end of these? I can see him adding 5-8 goals into his game, no one finds his runs, Ziyech will with ease.

2) Play Style

I’ve already touched on Play-Style in the positional versatility section, but here is how he mainly plays :

- High Volume of shots pG
- Tries difficult passes
- Often Drops deep to pick up the ball
- Neat dribbler
- Very good presser ( Key to Lampard’s system )

Chelsea this season :

3rd in expected goals.
3rd in expected points.

4th in actual goals.
4th in actual points.

We are creating lots of chances with arguably no star attacker, Ziyech’s creative play style will only improve these stats.

3) Ziyech’s movement

Ziyech has also very underrated movement, examples of this can be his goals vs Valencia and Real Madrid at the Bernebeu in the UCL.

Via video, I have provided you with some excellent movement from Ziyech which leads him to scoring.

4) How Chelsea should use Ziyech?

You can use him in a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-3, 2 of Lampard’s fav formations.

As the 10, he will be very creative, good at linking up with the attackers, not be scared take shots which is something we lack and provide fantastic passes to Abraham.

Or, it’s a 4-3-3..

Ziyech can operate as an 8 as he naturally drops deep anyway to collect the ball, however I’d prefer him at RW in this formation.

Ziyech will have fantastic link up with Reece James, 2 elite crossers on the same side, both different footed, is dangerous.

5) Ziyech’s Stats

Ziyech’s stats are impressive, in the Eredivise he is by far the best player.

2019/20

Ziyech racked up 6 goals and 12 assists in 21 matches, averaging an eye-watering 3.7 key passes, 4.2 shots, 2.6 dribbles, 2.3 crosses and 3.9 long balls per game.

Ziyech’s 19/20 UCL stats :

- 2 goals and 4 assists ( 6 G/A in 6 games )
- 3.2 shots
- 2.5 Key Passes
- 2.2 Dribbles
- 1.2 Crosses
- 2.5 long balls per game

Hakim Ziyech in Ajax Semi final Run :

Ziyech created 24 chances in 11 appearances, just 3 fewer than Messi and 10, yes 10 more than Mo Salah.

Ziyech also produced 2 goals against Real Madrid, and a goal against Spurs.

As you can see, he’s a player for the big occasion.

6) Will Ziyech handle the league?

Personal opinion: Yes.

Whilst first not being a fan of the deal, due to risk factor, the more I look into his stats, and re- watching his UCL performances, I have come to the conclusion Ziyech will improve us massively in so many ways

Ziyech will improve us by :

- Being able to unlock deep blocks
- Providing assists to Tammy, increasing his goal tally
- Being able to find Pulisic’s darting runs to the back post
- Offering us 3 different positional options, RW, AM, and CM.
- High technical shooting ability

If you look at Fernandes for example, there was a big risk factor of him coming to the league, he doesn’t have UCL pedigree like Ziyech but yet has done fantastic for Man Utd, Ziyech will offer similar impact.

In fact, if you compare, Ziyech tops Bruno’s stats, and costs less.

I hope you now understand more about what Ziyech will bring to Chelsea and the qualities he has.
