I need to a rant for a minute. (Me, rant? Weird, I know... LOL).

I& #39;ve been watching news of the protests in the US. I& #39;ve been talking to friends in areas like Georgia, who are now terrified after their lives are being put in danger over it all.
I see the same protests starting up here in Canada, albeit smaller and - thankfully - without the added firearms.

The amount of entitlement mentality and self centered nonsense I& #39;m seeing is absolutely mind blowing, on its own... but today, I saw a newer addition...
Today I saw people justifying the screaming for the "right" to put lower-income, service workers at risk ("I NEED A HAIRCUT!!") with "but MENTAL HEALTH!!". So, I have a few things to say about that.
For one, the people yelling "but mah mental health!" over not having sit-down service for their chicken nuggets have literally never cared about mental health before, and are - in fact - the very same people who call others "snowflakes" whenever mental health topics come up.
SO really, cut your own hair, snowflakes.

Secondly, everyone I know who& #39;s open about their own mental health struggles has been posting about how YES, they are struggling, but that they& #39;d rather struggle at home than DIE, or risk spreading it and killing others.
... so it really disgusts me to see these jerks appropriating the legitimate struggles of those with actual issues.

Now, what I& #39;m going to say is dark, so take all the content warnings on it, but I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH that this is what we need to prepare for, psychologically.
NO ONE will be untouched by death, when this all settles out. We will ALL lose loved ones.

We, as a society, are going to experience mass trauma and mass mourning on a level that I& #39;m not sure even I can fully comprehend, and I THINK about stuff like this (logistics, big pic)
We are going to be mourning our losses, while simultaneously feeling alone AND being surrounded by more loss. It will be hard to lean on friends for support in mourning your loss, when they& #39;re ALL mourning losses themselves.

... How do you think THAT situation is going to be...
for mental health?

Spoilers: NOT GOOD.

Let your hair get scraggly. Learn to cook your chicken nuggets at home - lord knows there& #39;s enough knockoff recipes for basically EVERYTHING you could want, online.

Just knock it off with the "freedom" and "rights" crap.
Freedom is never absolute, and SHOULD NOT be without restriction. The old "your freedom to throw a punch ends before my face begins" thing? Your "throw a punch" is now "spread infection" and "my face" is now "killing others".
We have things SO much better than people did in every other pandemic in history.

If you& #39;re reading this, you are a million times better off than people in other situations, who are going through things more similarly to those in past pandemics.

Be grateful, and STAY AT HOME.
