Seeing as the Bundesliga looks like it'll be the first European football league back in action after the #coronavirus outbreak, here's a thread of which German team you should support if you're a fan of an English Premier League team...
English side: Manchester United

German side: Bayern Munich

The historical powerhouses of their country. Most league titles and the reputation to go with it. Gone through a few different managers recently but still have their pull.

And they share that '99 final memory...

#MUFC
English side: Liverpool

German side: Dortmund

Always been a decent side, but haven't won enough league titles to replicate their quality.

Also, the Jurgen Klopp connection.

#LFC
English side: Manchester City

German side: RB Leipzig

Loads of money, somewhat unpopular owners, but building a very good side with their endless cash.

Only difference is Leipzig haven't won anything yet.

#MCFC
English side: Leicester City

German side: Monchengladbach

A very talented squad led by a good manager and primed to overachieve slightly this season.

#LCFC
English side: Tottenham Hotspur

German side: Bayer Leverkusen

Leverkusen are known by rivals as 'Neverkusen' and Spurs haven't won anything since a League Cup in 2008, so these two are practically the same. Also both enjoyed more success in the #UCL than domestically.

#THFC
English side: Arsenal

German side: Schalke 04

Great stadium, decent enough team, but never troubling the big boys any more. Both had high coach turnover in recent years. Schalke currently under David Wagner, formerly of Huddersfield, which shows their slump.

#AFC #Gunners
English side: Wolverhampton Wanderers

German side: Wolfsburg

Surely you can see why right? Both Wolves/Wolfs aren't they? There you go.

Also both have midfielders that score insane goals for fun (Ruben Neves and Maximilian Arnold)

#WWFC
English side: Newcastle United

German side: SC Freiburg

Both relegated in middle of the decade only to instantly return. Freiburg sold Papiss Cisse to Geordies in 2012. Freiburg's away colours are black & white.

Expect similarities to end if the #NUFCtakeover happens.

#NUFC
English side: Chelsea

German side: Hoffenheim

Both ran by owners other teams don't like very much. Had some success but haven't got enough money to trouble the biggest teams in the league these days. Also both lost managers to bigger teams (Nagelsmann and Conte)

#CFC
English side: Burnley

German side: FC Koln

Amazed any side is similar to Burnley in any way to be honest, but Koln have three strikers over 6'2, so assuming they're pretty physical. Also both endured poor Europa League spells recently.

#Burnley #Clarets
English side: Sheffield United

German side: Union Berlin

Newly promoted side doing better than expected (currently 11th in Bundesliga). No massive names in their squad either, unless you count Neven Subotic and Toni Kroos's younger brother.

#SUFC #Twitterblades
English side: Everton

German side: Eintracht Frankfurt

Both undergoing transitional periods under new coaches. Still, you'd expect them both to be higher up their respective leagues.

#EFC #Toffees
English side: Aston Villa

German side: Hertha Berlin

Both sides were good in late 70's/early 80's, but nothing major since. Good stadiums though.

#AVFC
English side: West Ham

German side: Augsburg

Both sides have an ancient full-back whose best years are behind them (Stephan Lichtsteiner and Pablo Zabaleta) and former Hammer Reece Oxford is with the Germans.

Also, no one knows what the 'Augsburg way' is either.

#WHUFC
English side: Watford

German side: Mainz

Not much to say here other than both sides have a couple of decent players and are just above their respective relegation zones. Not sure if Mainz's manager has ever called someone an ostrich though.

#WFC #Watford
English side: Bournemouth

German side: Fortuna Dusseldorf

Both sides have risen through the leagues, with Dusseldorf in the German third division as recently as 2009. Nothing amazing about their squad, which is maybe why they're fighting relegation too...

#AFCB
English side: Southampton

German side: Werder Bremen

Remember when Bremen were a good side? Miroslav Klose, Claudio Pizarro, Diego etc?

Reminds us of the time Southampton had Tadic, Pelle, Fonte, Lallana etc. Now fighting relegation, just like Saints.

#SFC #Saints
English side: Norwich City

German side: SC Paderborn

Paderborn are the side you look at and go "are they really in the Bundesliga?". We reckon that's probably how Europeans look at Norwich.

Not the worst side, but not good enough to become a top flight regular
