I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW SICK I AM OF REPEATEDLY EXPLAINING TO PEOPLE WITH AGENCY THE FUNDAMENTAL FLAWS IN EBOOK PUBLISHING AND WHY IT IS NOT OK FOR EBOOK PUBLISHERS TO CHARGE US £400-1K+ FOR SINGLE USER EBOOKS WHICH ARE COMPLETELY IMPRACTICAL
I HAVE TOLD JISC OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND ALL I GET BACK IS GUFF FROM VENDORS (VENDORS WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU PLAYING AT?!) TRYING TO JUSTIFY THIS RIDICULOUS SITUATION. I AM FUMING. I CALL FOR A SECTOR-WIDE BOYCOTT OF TAYLOR AND FRANCIS/ROUTLEDGE BOOKS. ENOUGH!!
MY STUDENTS, ALREADY UNDER EXTREME STRESS, CANNOT ACCESS THE READING THEY NEED TO COMPLETE THEIR COURSE. MEANWHILE I AM SPENDING ALL OF MY TIME HUNTING FOR TEXTS AND EXPLAINING TO SUPPOSED EXPERTS IN THE SECTOR IN MULTIPLE WAYS WHY THIS IS NOT ON!!!
Sorry for shouting but I am so bloody angry. So angry. Why is it just me and one or two others fighting this? where is the collective action.
Also, SAGE. Make your books electronic.
the publishers are hiding behind the vendors. The vendors who will not tell the publishers "on your bike if you think we are listing your titles for that price"

BOYCOTT
Every org with a platform is terrified of speaking out because of the litigious nature of academic publishing so we never get anywhere. Academics, please ask your librarians about publisher conduct before you sign a contract with them PLEASE
Librarians, stop giving them £££ Who even is buying these books for that money?!
Why am I being asked by supposed sector leaders to do all of the effing grunt work. Repeatedly. If you do not have the arguments needed to push back on this then what have you been doing for the past decade?! Why are you here?
we are 4? weeks into the lockdown and still we do not have the resources I need.
I won't be buying from these publishers and I won't be buying from vendors* who, instead challenging academic publishers, repeatedly try to justify the pricing model to me + try to school me on student resource preferences and library usage.

ps ends in "..kews"
