Duuuuude, this is not murder, this is self-defense. . .

Sure, the police have multiple options but the action they took was the safest for anyone else but the veteran (the guy who got shot)

Option 1: They waited for a response and when the vet made a gesture of--- https://twitter.com/ricci_richy/status/1252902039501209601
---drawing something from his bag or belt, there's a possibility that there's a gun so the police shot at him (this is what they did)

Option 2: They could've zeroed in on him JUST so they could frisk him for firearms or any weapon but this is WAAAAY too dangerous and could've---
---gotten atleast an officer killed and multiple ones injured and still him dead because of assault (now the police have a reason to shoot him)

Option 3: waited for the vet to draw something from his side and shoot AN officer, another reason to shoot him
Option 4: shoot the vet's right hand to disarm and then call an ambulance to treat him. . . but that's too movie like, no one has an aim that precise.

The officers weren't trigger happy, they SCARED for their life
they knew that the dude was a veteran and have fought an actual war hence him having PTSD so he would've definitely wrecked some shit up if he did have a gun
the woman in the background was whining that they should've frisked him first instead of shooting, but as I said TOO RISKY
Sure it was the officer's fault too because after the first shot, it looks like the vet was disarmed and turned his back. . . the second shot was uncalled for but when you're within death's grasp, do you think you'll think rationally????
Yes I may sound like an asshole because of this thread, but we all have to remember that the police officers are human too, just like us. . . They're scared just like US, and because we have a tendency to panic when scared, we don't think like we should. . .
