Judge Tweets: Don’t do the Dumb

A PFC files an IG complaint claiming disparate treatment by the S1 shop. Claims NCO and O actions are processed differently.

Doesn’t seem too crazy, right? Some 1 shops have policies that require junior soldier actions be brought by an NCO 1/
Usually to make sure they’re reviewed and accurate and not waste time. Makes sense most places.

But this whole thing buried the lede. 2/
“Why do lower enlisted have to pay for S1 actions and NCOs and Officers get them for free?”

Wait.
Whole thing. The NCOs in the S1 shop all clam up. Every lower enlisted Soldier in the unit is interviewed. 4/
Turns out, this shop had been requiring PAYMENT by every new Soldier SPC and below to process leave forms, 4187s, etc. The S1 actual was out on extended con leave and the NCOIS was on maternity leave. 5/
Kids had to file Article 139 claims to get their money back. The unit was able to recover most funds from the offenders’ pay.

Can’t remember how it turned out though. Court martial, I think? 6/6
