Here’s a look at Crescent Road last night. This has been getting worse as the weather warms and is simply unacceptable and irresponsible.
Now is NOT the time for Calgarians to be congregating and visiting new neighborhoods. This is a global pandemic and people have been told to physical distance. They've been told to stay home and not gather in groups.
Believe me, I understand the desire to get outside. We're all craving nature right now. But I'm asking you, please do not be a tourist in other neighbourhoods.
This is an unprecedented time and we are taking the unprecedented measure of closing certain roads to traffic to allow residents to safely physical distance. Stay at home as much as you can. Stay in your own neighbourhoods. Be safe. Be kind.
Don’t ruin it for everyone, follow these simple rules:
- Don’t drive to other communities to recreate or stroll. Use your own community’s parks, streets, and pathways.
- Stay at least 2 metres apart.
- Don't congregate.
- Don't block pathways w/ your conversations.
- Walk and roll single file.
- Stay to the right on pathways, as always.
- If an area is already too crowded, don’t contribute further to the problem. Go elsewhere.
- For those with yards and balconies, try to spend as much of your outdoor time at home as possible.
- If you are in a group of more than one, walk in single file when passing oncoming bikes or pedestrians to allow proper distance. Again, be safe. Be kind. We're in this together.
