hi lol here's my opinion
personally speaking? though i agree that TWs are very important, you cannot force anyone to do ANYTHING.
the general rule of thumb -- freedom of speech, but not freedom of consequence. this goes for everyone.
what's always made me afraid of using twitter has always been how--
--risky it is to say anything that someone might disagree with.
i'm going to say it right now--subtweeting is not good business.
none of you are bad people, and the friendships i've seen develop in the community are exceptional. but the way people talk behind each others'--
--backs has always terrified me.
the fact that people accuse each other of things that they've never done (for example, saying that kiwi was romanticizing self-harm without understanding the context behind the work) has always made me wary of what i say or do on here.--
the problem with subtweeting is that basically everyone knows who you're talking about, and that it's mentally exhausting for anyone involved--especially the person subjected to it.
personally (and i will REITERATE THIS AGAIN) a TW would have been nice. but content creators--
--cannot be expected to understand the triggers of their audience, nor of the divide between cultures.
we all have the right to express boundaries/triggers/things we're uncomfortable with, but you can't always expect for people to accommodate for these problems.
the problem--
--arose mostly from how both parties handled the situation. kiwi themselves does not have a problem with warnings, and has said that a warning would have been a better choice. what set them off and made them uneasy was how people approached them with guns blazing and talking--
--behind their back.
no matter how much we like to preach that this is a peaceful, friendly community...the truth is that we can get very aggressive when faced with opinions we collectively disagree with.
the divide between eastern and western fandom culture is something we--
--should keep in mind when we discuss situations like this.
i honestly don't know how to continue this thread, but here's some more context:
-kiwi themselves has committed sh before; there is no reason for them to romanticize
-the art was a precursor to a comic exploring--
--the subject.
-kiwi has stated that they're considering moving their creative focus away from IG

i'd preach more about being kind and civil or something, but it's something that's very, very important.
if you can keep something civil -- if you can keep it PRIVATE--
keep it private.
