hi lol here& #39;s my opinion
personally speaking? though i agree that TWs are very important, you cannot force anyone to do ANYTHING.
the general rule of thumb -- freedom of speech, but not freedom of consequence. this goes for everyone.
what& #39;s always made me afraid of using twitter has always been how--
--risky it is to say anything that someone might disagree with.
i& #39;m going to say it right now--subtweeting is not good business.
none of you are bad people, and the friendships i& #39;ve seen develop in the community are exceptional. but the way people talk behind each others& #39;--
--backs has always terrified me.
the fact that people accuse each other of things that they& #39;ve never done (for example, saying that kiwi was romanticizing self-harm without understanding the context behind the work) has always made me wary of what i say or do on here.--
the problem with subtweeting is that basically everyone knows who you& #39;re talking about, and that it& #39;s mentally exhausting for anyone involved--especially the person subjected to it.
personally (and i will REITERATE THIS AGAIN) a TW would have been nice. but content creators--
--cannot be expected to understand the triggers of their audience, nor of the divide between cultures.
we all have the right to express boundaries/triggers/things we& #39;re uncomfortable with, but you can& #39;t always expect for people to accommodate for these problems.
the problem--
--arose mostly from how both parties handled the situation. kiwi themselves does not have a problem with warnings, and has said that a warning would have been a better choice. what set them off and made them uneasy was how people approached them with guns blazing and talking--
--behind their back.
no matter how much we like to preach that this is a peaceful, friendly community...the truth is that we can get very aggressive when faced with opinions we collectively disagree with.
the divide between eastern and western fandom culture is something we--
--should keep in mind when we discuss situations like this.
i honestly don& #39;t know how to continue this thread, but here& #39;s some more context:
-kiwi themselves has committed sh before; there is no reason for them to romanticize
-the art was a precursor to a comic exploring--
--the subject.
-kiwi has stated that they& #39;re considering moving their creative focus away from IG

i& #39;d preach more about being kind and civil or something, but it& #39;s something that& #39;s very, very important.
if you can keep something civil -- if you can keep it PRIVATE--
keep it private.
