I am sorry to announce that my father Terence Frisby, passed away yesterday morning. He was in his bed, holding my hand as he went. He died quietly and peacefully, and made no fuss.

I loved him very much. We all did.
I can't see him resting in peace, nor anyone else over there in the next life being able to once he arrives. I imagine he is already arguing with Peter about the correct use of the word "Pearly".

Terence Frisby, born November 28th, 1932, died April 22, 2020.
He was above all else a man of the theatre, whether as a playwright, actor, director or producer. Here are some photos of him as a young actor / writer, which I dug up yesterday.
He was one of the original presenters #PlaySchool in, I think, 1964. Here is he on "dressing up day"
He loved golf and was a driving force in the Stage Golfing Society. Here he is practising his swing in the back garden.
Here he is with my mother. They were one of the glamour couples of the 1960s before it all went wrong.
Despite writing what became the longest-running comedy in the history of the West End, surely his greatest moment must be that in the late 70s he was the Manikin Man.

On holiday in Cornwall, women used to nudge each other & point "it's the Manikin Man".
He was a vacky in Cornwall during the war, a period he described as "his second childhood". He would write a musical about it, Kisses On A Postcard, and a book by the same name.

Kisses On A Postcard is the best thing I have ever seen in the the theatre, and it devastates me that he never got to see it performed in the West End. We did everything we could to get it on, but no producer would take the chance.

His sitcom Lucky Feller, starring David Jason, as one of two working-class brothers in South London was one of the forgotten greats, very much a template for Only Fools & Horses.

PS He did not die of Covid 19. He was given treatment 3 years ago for bladder cancer which he did not have and never recovered from the side effects.
Here is he is as a Vacky in Cornwall, and then with me as a boy when I was about the same age
And if you want to hear him telling the story of his evacuation, along with some of the music from Kisses, I would very much recommend listening to this which we recorded several years ago
