It really isn’t my week. Damn.
So my mother and I both got tested for #COVID19 yesterday and it was weird. The test itself wasn’t painful, just highly uncomfortable and made my eyes water like crazy. They seemed to have everything running smoothly; even with waiting 40 mins in the queue wasn’t horrible.
But the oddest thing was seeing every single person at the checkpoints leading up to the testing area in military fatigues. The first thing I said to my mother was “it’s like we’re in a video game” & I realized after that I was definitely thinking of the checkpoints in Last of Us
I expected full ppe & hazmat suits at the testing area because duh, infectious disease. I expected police presence. But not that much. The lovely healthcare workers giving the tests had their names & the times they started written on their suits & that was crazy to my mother.
The two we interacted with were so nice after being there for 3 hrs & seeing so many people. I looked back at the line when we were very close to the front & wow, it was a lot. Their day was only getting longer but they were still helping with a smile in their voice.
it doesn’t matter if no one sees this thread or cares about it, I just need to record my thoughts about this whole pandemic & what it entails for myself. When the world gets through this, I don’t want it easily brushed off because that’s when people forget & become careless
