when baby jimi first gave chocolates to tae for valentine's day, he was in grade 5

the other cis girls in their class laughed at jimi and his sloppily made heart chocos but baby tae glared at them and rejected their chocos and only accepted jimi's with a quietly shy thank you and bow of his head

baby jimi got so excited he toppled backwards over a desk!!!

please, jimi is too shy to actually /ask/ tae out himself so he just keeps bringing tae chocolates, roses and balloons even as they grow up and enter high school, and even become friends!!! now it's kind of accepted as a given and tae blushes a bit but always accepts jimi's gifts

jimi's just got a lot of love to give and he needs to show it off with extravagant gestures!!

and tae is just so used to it huhu till valentine's in their year 2 (grade 11) when jimi doesn't give him chocolates

and tae is kinda confused/hurt? did jimi give them to someone else?

he thinks about jimi, with his bright, smiling, effusive energy, showering all of that energy and love on another boy this year, with his sparkling smile and homemade heart chocos (which are now really well made and super cute) and tae .... really works himself up into upset

so he can't help but ask jimi casually at lunch, "did you :( forget :( something :( today :("

jimi just looks at him, confused. "no, i didn't?"

tae steels himself to finally say it: "it's valentine's day :("

jimi proceeds to look mortified and turns red! he claps his hands over his face and thunks his head repeatedly over his desk!

"oh no," he says. "i completely forgot! i was so tired out i was studying for our chemistry test late last night!"

oh.

tae feels some of the pressure ease up in his heart.

but he's still a little rattled so he mumbles. "oh. thought you gave your chocos to someone else."

jimi looks confused at first, but then his eyes widen in realization. and a sly smile appears on his face!

"oh no," jimi coos and immediately wraps his arms around a grumbly tae to give him a huge hug. "was my taetae jealous? don't worry!"

then jimi proceeds to pull away and shoot tae cheesy finger guns. "you're the only boy for me!"

tae just...sits in his chair, blushy and dazed.

jimi pretended like he needed to use the toilet. but actually he collapses against the wall, with a hand over his heart.

jimi never forgets chocolates for his tae on valentine's day! he made them last night! he always studies in advance for a test!

see, he's willing to wait for his tae to be ready for as long as it takes. but jimi's heart is a little bruised and needy. he just ... wanted to push the envelope a bit today.

he wanted to see if tae would get a little jealous this year? upset?

and he did! jimi smiles giddily to himself. so tae really does have feelings for him! tomorrow, he'll give tae his chocos. he will, and maybe then he'll ask his tae out for real!

except the next day, jimi swallows thickly because there's a box of chocos sitting on his own desk.

tae isn't looking at him. but his cheeks are red. jimi opens the box with a pounding heart, and oh no. the chocos are all misshaped like jimi's first batch for tae back when they were babies.

and they don't... taste that great either. jimi cautiously chews one.

tae sighs.

"yours are obviously much better," he says, burying his face in his math textbook.

jimi gasps and places a hand on his heart.

"no way," he says dramatically. "these are the BEST! they're soooo good!"

tae gives him a dirty look. jimi giggles and fishes out his own box of chocos from his bag.

"thank you for trying for me," jimi says sweetly, happy and flushed. "but maybe we'd better eat mine."

"yours won't kill us," tae says dryly.

they smile, big and silly at each other.

jimi's eyes get a lil teary when tae shyly reaches out to hold his hand and intertwine their fingers firmly.

his sneaky ploy worked! he got his man and he got his chocos!

and that's how you snag a tae~ but it only works if you're a jimi~
