0) Thinking out loud here, would love someone to point out mistakes in my logic or alternative viewpoints, but here’s my take on when the _next_ Premier League season will start.

(Quick clarifier, I’m not talking about “how” it will return, only “when”).
1) The Premier League has stated that their best case scenario is 13th/14th June. This would allow them to finish the season in 7 weeks and before July 31st (avoiding contract implications).

Uefa would then have August to complete their competitions.
2) Their worst case is October.

Despite their insistence on the importance of finishing this season, it’s hard to imagine that we wouldn’t start a new season if no football could be played until October.

Meaning the new season starts in October & this one is cancelled.
3) Let’s say in the absolute best case, we are able to finish this season by the end of the July.

With Uefa using August, when would next season actually start? European competitions, rest, commercial obligations. September feels like a push even in an absolute best-case...
4) My belief is if it becomes clear that the season can’t be completed by July 31st, this season will be cancelled.

Ironically that is also in my view the only thing that could then see next season start before October (prob Sept) in either of the 2 scenarios I laid out above.
5) In conclusion, no matter what happens next with this season or next, I struggle to see next season starting before September, with the most likely scenario being October.
I haven’t been on here much recently so don’t know if they’ve already covered it but I imagine @BenCrellin and @PlanetFPLPod might have some thoughts on this?
