I have learned to view thriving not as an out-of-reach destination but rather as something we carve in some small way out of each day. It is a companion to survival. 1/
I want to search for joy in the midst of prolonged pain, not wait until it& #39;s over. So I have to find ways to jump into the small picture instead of always scanning the whole gallery while feeling locked out. 2/
I have been practicing for years- most of my life, really- as pain has been a constant co-worker I didn& #39;t choose but need to cooperate with. 3/
Those things we might call hobbies, or mindless pursuits, or are declared to have a creative potential to exploit for money, those are often my lifelines. Games, art, plants, knitting, songwriting, drinking tea, etc. are catalysts for thriving. To access them is to thrive. 4/
I hope this perspective can help you cope with the suffering we& #39;re all going through. You don& #39;t have to wait until it& #39;s over to find the small picture joy. You can thrive in numerous little ways even through life& #39;s greatest struggles. 5/
It& #39;s not going to be every moment escaping reality, but it& #39;s good and hopeful to explore ways to help break up the toughness into smaller segments. 6/
We can build this pattern of respite into our daily routine. This is how to navigate the long haul. From my anguished heart to yours, I hope you find this helpful. 7/
In light of the fact that I can& #39;t just grit my teeth and expect this to be over with, I have to keep remembering to break from the storm for a few minutes throughout these hours. And maybe we each need this reminder? This is why I am sharing. 8/
Peace-in-the-making be yours today. 9/end thread.
