So many Black folk have been turned away from getting treatment for COVID-19 symptoms... #thread
"By the time Rana Zoe Mungin called 911 on March 19, she could hardly breathe [...] Days earlier, she had gone to urgent care, worried she had signs of COVID-19, but the clinic was short on tests and treated her for an asthma attack instead." https://theappeal.org/black-women-coronavirus-healthcare/
“I asked ‘How is my son doing?’ and she said, ‘He’s doing okay, and they gave him the green light to go home.’” ... “I asked her ‘Was he given the COVID-19 test?’ and she said ‘No, he would have to make an appointment with his doctor.’” https://ctmirror.org/2020/04/22/sons-death-highlights-covid-19-testing-barriers-for-black-residents/
People want to talk about pre-existing medical conditions as the cause, even though many conditions are caused by antiblackness, inaccessible preventative care, environmental racism, and poverty; but are we going to talk about hospitals sending sick folk home w/o medical care?
