The Republican Party that is now responsible for guiding America through a generational crisis was elected because it amplified the paranoid, racist ramblings of a cable news network tuned to appeal to the self-destructive frequency of hypercapitalistic white supremacy.

Republicans are not talented at any of this. In fact, they are so untalented at actual governance that they rely on misinformation about their policies and performance and actively disenfranchise voters. They are not capable of governing under even the best circumstances.

Due to years and years of manipulation and propaganda, we are living in a country desperately unmoored from reality at a time where an understanding of reality is unbelievably essential. This is the legacy of the Republican Party. A nation thrashing futilely about in madness.

If you find yourself asking how did we get to this point, how did we arrive at this horrific moment, the worst and most awful truth is that it was done on purpose by Republicans and corporations who were more than willing to sacrifice the future for short term profit and power.
