Seeing yet more embarrassing disrespect against Lewis Hamilton in the last few days so it’s time to debunk a few myths
“He’s always had the best car/all titles won in a dominant car/didn’t start at a backmarker team!!”
4/6 titles have been won without the fastest car or at least with equal competition, the other 2 with a very strong teammate - far more creditable than those he’s compared with

He’s won races in every season, including 2009 where his car was genuinely 7th/8th fastest at times. Besides, I’ve never seen anyone “win in a Racing Point” nor have I seen Lionel Messi win then Champions League with Accrington Stanley
McLaren didn’t win in the year before Lewis joined & have a resounding ZERO wins since his departure. Mercedes had 1 win pre-2013 and have won 6 titles since. Coincidence? The same people who say it is will say Schumacher “built” Ferrari. The best drivers end up in the best teams
I don’t see why him going straight into a McLaren seat is a bad thing, if anything it enhances his greatness - plus the minor point of beating the reigning double reigning WDC. As with the Merc move, teams want to sign the best driver. Some people clearly never watched him in GP2
“He lost to Nico Rosberg!”
Oh, I didn’t realise winning 3-1 now counted as a defeat. And that’s without going into the details of the one year he finished behind. At least he didn’t lose 3-0 like a certain someone

“He’s never won with a good teammate!”
This has to be the worst argument. Apparently beating Rosberg, Alonso and Button in seasons & making Bottas look amateur is now insignificant

This comes from the fans of drivers who won their titles against Mark Webber and been beaten by Ricciardo and Leclerc, or worse got humiliated by Rosberg and won titles against Barrichello, Johnny Herbert and Jos Verstappen

“He’s the luckiest driver ever!!”
If you always put yourself in contention, you will be there to benefit from others’ misfortune. One of MANY examples - people say he lucked into RUS ‘19 but will conveniently ignore things going against him in the same way in MON ‘15, AUS ‘18

If we’re going to talk about “luck” then Lewis has statistically lost THREE titles due to bad luck - 2007, 2012, 2016. It all evens out eventually but some people have selective memories
“The stewards favour him!! maFIA!!”
Ferrari fans bringing this up has to be the most hypocritical thing I’ve ever seen
https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😂" title="Face with tears of joy" aria-label="Emoji: Face with tears of joy"> Right back to the scandalous decision at Spa ‘08 up to bottling Leclerc’s clear penalty at Monza ‘19 & too many to name in between, this point is laughable

“He cries and moans all the time on the team radio!!”
Only certain elements of team radio are aired and often Lewis not quite being happy with the car will be played out of context to make things seem more dramatic as he’s miles ahead of the rest of the field in terms of ability

Give me any of the top drivers and there will be times they’ve “moaned” whether that’s last year or throughout their careers. And this will come from a certain driver’s fans who has told the stewards to “fuck off” and deliberately crashed into Lewis out of rage

“His personality is so arrogant/bland!!! I can’t stand him!”
Lewis is one of the best model sportspeople you’ll ever see. Always thankful to his team/fans & if he gets a win he maybe didn’t deserve he’ll fully acknowledge it unlike any other driver (Baku/Russia ‘18, Bahrain ‘19)

Unlike many other of the greats, he has no history of cheating or bad sportsmanship - that’s something that gets overlooked way too much (and don’t come crying to be about Liegate or Abu Dhabi 2016 - you all know full well he did nothing wrong)
Moving away from F1 - “He doesn’t pay taxes!!”
This has to be one of the biggest myths I’ve ever seen. Lewis is among the top 5000 tax-payers in the UK for his work in Brackley. Regarding living in Monaco, where is the same energy for other drivers & sports stars doing likewise?

“His social media is attention seeking/hypocritical!”
The things he’s criticised for online are a joke. Donates to charity & it’s not enough, raises awareness on an issue & it’s for his image, posts something positive/funny & it’s cringe. But of course anyone else & it’s great

For example, how many times will I see his private jet mentioned with relation to his climate change campaigning - the private jet he hasn’t owned for years

Where there are imperfections with Lewis, he is scrutinised far more than anyone else in the same position

I can’t believe I’ve had to make another of these threads. Lewis is soon to become statistically the GOAT (already is the GOAT anyway), yet is the most disrespected driver in the sport. The hypocrisy of many of the arguments is beyond laughable
Just defending Lewis you see how far ahead he is of the competition, without even going into his greatness. Some people just love to hate
Also I don’t want to hear about a certain either driver getting “more disrespect” when it’s simply not true, especially when said driver is comfortably behind Lewis in terms of ability.
